Spreads and totals can both win or both lose on the same game — they are not hedges unless you construct them that way intentionally. Period markets settle on period scoring only; do not import full-game intuition into a Q1 total without reading the header.
Does overtime count in your basketball bet?
Before confirming, check whether the market includes overtime. Regulation-only totals and “including OT” moneylines settle differently when a game goes long.
